MOROCCO – Yoga, sea, conscious journey

September 2 – 6 (9)

September 23 – 27 (30)
MIRLEFT, HOTEL ABERTIH

What is nature?

Yoga, meditation, conviviality, and conscious exploration of the splendid Moroccan coast.

This is love: to fly toward a secret sky, to let fall a hundred veils in every moment.
First, to let go of life. Finally, to take a step without using feet.

Rumi

Sea, light, wide horizons, the warmth and authenticity of Amazigh hospitality, the taste of the authentic, and the call of Nature (ours, first and foremost).
This is the ideal setting to dive into a conscious journey, where hatha flow, meditation, and shamanic yoga practices (open to all experience levels) will be some of the colors on a broad experiential palette. Expect encounters, tastes, walks, immersions in local culture, breathtaking sunsets, and excursions. For the more adventurous, there’s paragliding, surfing, and horseback riding. The pleasure of simple, genuine conviviality, at which the Amazigh excel, will be a delightful backdrop. The term Imazighen means “free people” (Amazigh in the singular) and refers to the indigenous populations of North African territories. They are a kind, hospitable, and proud people, who have inhabited Morocco forever, safeguarding its untamed wildness, natural poetry, and intrinsic spirituality.

Where the ocean and the desert meet, pearls of light are born: Mirleft, a small town south of Agadir, is—in its simplicity—one of the most precious. Amidst lively souks and breathtaking beaches, centuries-old argan trees and endless steppes, it offers the emotion of an ancient time where it’s possible to rediscover a more natural, essential, and therefore real dimension of existence.

The setting, inhabitants, and landscape will thus inspire the theme guiding our practices (two per day, morning and evening, interspersed with ample free time, excursions, beach relaxation, walks, and other optional activities). After the 5-day seminar, it’s possible to extend your stay for two additional days—on a half-board basis—for a small extra charge. This allows you to fully enjoy exploring the surroundings and beaches, let the experience settle in, or embark on new adventures. The Hotel Abertih, where we’ll be staying, offers activities such as horseback riding, paragliding, excursions, mountain biking, and surfing. During these two extra days, you’ll also have the option of individual consultations and sessions with the seminar leader.

The theme of the journey-seminar

In the imaginal and archetypal view, drawing from the works of James Hillman, Henry Corbin, and Selene Calloni Williams, Nature is Soul, and the soul is the very act of imagining. It represents the will to love, to give oneself, and to create beyond oneself. Nature, in this sense, is beauty without opposites, transcending the moral, divisive values of the ordinary mind. It’s that which escapes our desires for power, manipulation, and control: a complex, ungovernable, unpredictable, immeasurable image. Furthermore, it is Nature that provides us with examples of our infinite imaginative possibilities and, because what we can imagine we can create, our infinite capacities for realization. Thus, Nature is a source of extraordinary power.

Perceiving the world as a complex image—where the whole is in the part and the part is in the whole—leads us to realization. Recognizing that we are not dealing with contexts, situations, and individuals distinct and separate from us, but with complex images of which we are co-creators, means altering the entire range of our reactions. The imaginal vision is connected to the thought of the heart; it allows you to understand that things happen because they have a purpose, and are not merely the result of mechanistic causes. It is through this vision that you perceive the spiritual world (the divine immanent in nature) and can understand your soul’s mission in order to fulfill it. This mission was present even before your birth; it was the acorn that gave rise to the image of your life. Indeed, it was the very reason that willed you into this world, your necessity to exist, to be manifest. From the moment we come into the world, we are accompanied by a daimon, a “guiding spirit,” whose task is precisely to incessantly remind us of our soul’s mission. Basing our thought on imagination helps us perceive the daimon’s voice, to remember our own Nature, because it frees us from the incessant noise of the mind and the world. The daimon speaks to us through events, ideas, intuitions, dreams, and encounters: we just need to know how to listen. We encounter Nature, first and foremost our own, to enhance this listening capacity, freeing ourselves (Inshallah!—God willing!) from the shackles of limiting beliefs, from the burden of our pretensions, judgments, and mental certainties. Opening our gaze to the new. In beauty, simplicity, and lightness.
