The Threshold – Yoga Journey in Ladakh

The Threshold – Yoga Journey in Ladakh

August 2027
( + Kashmir Bonus Track)
In collaboration with Travel with Lya

Is it about reaching a destination, consuming an experience, escaping personal frustrations, or preying on Instagrammable spots?

Or is it about letting a place and an opportunity flow through you, recognizing yourself in the relationship with an “elsewhere,” and allowing yourself to be transformed?

Sarangi makes no claims of miracles, sudden enlightenments, or miraculous life shifts. Our journeys are an opportunity for self-knowledge, sometimes for integration or discovery, and in some cases, for a “homecoming.” They are an exercise in awareness, through an open and responsible encounter with diversity, nature, and beauty.

This is the beauty of contrasts and contradictions, of ruggedness and mystery; a beauty that is not always caressing, and never subservient to the demands or expectations of our starving ego. Yet, it is so generous in dispensing nourishment, knowledge, healing, reintegration, and love.

Ladakh is moore than a destination, It is a threshold. Often called “Little Tibet,” it is nestled between the Himalayas and the Karakoram, dotted with ancient Buddhist monasteries amidst pristine valleys, crystal-clear lakes, and towering peaks. The altitude, the austere and wild nature, and the ancient spirituality that permeates the atmosphere offer an opportunity for serene detachment and clarity of vision.

It is a gateway to that which remains within us despite the passing of time and the disturbances of life—an elevated perspective that allows us to know every aspect of ourselves without being overwhelmed or dominated by them. It is the silence, the calm and imperturbable background from which every form, every configuration of our energy (sensations, thoughts, emotions) originates and to which it returns.

Ladakh is a stronghold of Himalayan Tantric Buddhism (Vajrayana), a spiritual tradition that utilizes complex techniques—yoga, deity visualizations, mantras, mudras—to realize one’s true nature (Buddha-nature), not through renunciation but through integration and transformation. Alongside Buddhism, and with a long history of peaceful and collaborative coexistence, the Islamic religious and cultural tradition is also deeply rooted and flourishing in Ladakh.

Our yoga and meditation practices, open to all levels of experience, will be oriented toward facilitating a mindful approach to our journey. We hope this will be an opportunity to discover new possibilities within yourself, to honor your limits, recognize limiting beliefs, and open yourself to new points of view.

We do not pretend to become “spiritual beings” by transcending our human frailties; rather, we practice to remember our inherent spiritual nature. We practice the joy of being present and being with ourselves, one step beyond the threshold of habitual mental contents and the patterns overwritten by life. We move with delicacy, respect, conviviality, and lightness.
