TAMAZGHA: Between Stone and Ocean
TAMAZGHA: Between Stone and Ocean
A traveling seminar of yoga, walking, and presence in the landscape
November 17 – 23 | Morocco (Tafraout and Mirleft)
«Patience is not passive waiting; rather, it is the ability to look at the thorn and see the rose, to look at the night and see the dawn.»
— Jalal al-Din Rumi
«Trusting surrender does not mean crossing one’s arms, but freeing the heart from the anxiety of the outcome after having offered one’s hands to action.»
— Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali

To inhabit the body also means learning to inhabit the space that surrounds us. Movement and breath never happen in a void; rather, they are shaped in a continuous sensory dialogue with the matter, forms, and quality of the context we find ourselves in. When yoga practice steps outside the protected confines of the studio to take root in nature, the landscape ceases to be a mere photographic backdrop and becomes an active master, a concrete guide that teaches us how to be in the world. The same happens when opening up to an authentic relationship with other cultures—which, in our approach, is never mere folklore, but a transformative encounter, Inshallah.
In southern Morocco, between the primordial grandeur of the Anti-Atlas and the constant expanse of the Atlantic Ocean, the land preserves an ancient, binary wisdom. On one hand, the mountain—the ancient stone that invites us into grounding, steadfastness, and inner stability; on the other, the sea—the fluid element that asks us to dissolve our rigidities, let go of superfluous control, and yield to the flow of life.
This traveling seminar is an invitation to explore the union between these two fundamental forces. Through the body, physical practice, walking, and silence, we will allow the stone and the ocean themselves to show us how to rediscover within ourselves the perfect balance between the capacity to remain firm and the art of knowing how to surrender.
THE SENSE OF THE JOURNEY

The practice adapts and responds to the surrounding environment. The itinerary is structured into two complementary stages that reflect this path of inner and psychophysical exploration.
TAFRAOUT: November 17 – 20 — The Mountain and the Dimension of Sabr

Immersed among the majestic pink granites and valleys of the Anti-Atlas, the work focuses on the concept of Sabr. In the Sufi and Islamic philosophical and psychological tradition, sabr is often reductively translated as patience, but its etymological root ($\text{ṣ-b-r}$) points to the act of containing, binding, and holding firm that which tends to scatter. It is not a matter of passive resignation, but rather of active inner steadfastness: the ability to develop a stable and centered state of mind in the face of life’s fluctuations.
We will draw strength from the solidity of the stone and the patient, proud, and welcoming attitude of the local culture to build a presence rooted in the body.
Practices in Tafraout: Hatha Flow sessions oriented toward stability, grounding, and core strength. Work on respiratory rhythm and postural holding to develop continuity of presence. Mindful walks among the rock formations and valley villages to integrate the quality of sabr into walking and daily life.
MIRLEFT: November 20 – 22 — The Ocean and the Principle of Tawakkul

On the Atlantic coast, where cliffs meet the immensity of the sea, the work shifts to the principle of Tawakkul. Derived from the root w-k-l (to entrust, to delegate), tawakkul represents in Sufi psychology and spirituality the moment when the individual, after having made every necessary effort, recognizes the limits of their personal control and chooses to surrender to a broader order. It is the act of letting go of the ego’s grip and aligning oneself with the flow of things without succumbing to the anxiety of the outcome.
The view of the horizon and the constant rhythm of the waves will be our guide to transform structural tension into openness and procedural trust.

Practices in Mirleft: Fluid movement and dynamic sequences tuned to spontaneous breathing. Exercises for opening, stretching, and releasing muscular and emotional tensions. Moments dedicated to silence, visual contemplation of the horizon, and tuning into the rhythm of the ocean.
